The fishery at Central Scotland Shooting School, set in the rural surroundings of Garbethill Muir, covers an area of approximately 4 acres. From the shallow reed lined periphery the gin clear Lochan fills a man made bowl which reaches a depth of around 10 feet in the centre. Being surrounded by a variety of vegetation, which helps produce an abundance of natural fly life, this an ideal top of the water venue. All bank areas are accessible and fishable as the bigger shrubs are well back from the waters edge, making for easy casting, regardless of ability. The Lochan is regularly stocked with fully-finned, hard fighting Brown, Blue, and Rainbow trout, from approximately 2lb upwards. Various permits are available to suit all anglers, from those who want to spend a whole day, to those who just want to spend a couple of hours on a summers evening. A catch and release sporting ticket is also available provided barbless hooks are used. If required for a little extra a two-man boat can also be hired. The fishery suits all methods of fly fishing from dry fly, to traditional wets, buzzers, and lures.
